I believe there's an option somewhere in mythtv-setup to enable jobs on 
that machine, probably in the general section. I allow jobs on all my 
machines. This can be a bit disconcerting sometimes when I come up to 
'mission control' and find my workstation thrashing away on something.

You can run 'mythtv-setup' on the slave box (after stopping the slave 
backend) without taking down the master box, although that would 
probably be safer.
