Actually, I wouldn't invest anything at all in a MythTV system right now
until we get more assurance from the developers that there is a definitive
and workable solution in place for the DataDirect problem before the Sept. 1
deadline.  Their secrecy may cause people like this gentleman to go out and
spend money on a system that may ultimately be nearly worthless (except,
perhaps, as an MCE machine).
