If you do a search of the list, you'll find what seems to be a million
different zap2it threads and topics. Finding what has already been
asked on this particular topic would be a daunting task, so I can
understand your frustration. However, it still might be worth searching
since so much has flown by, everything from fact to fiction, from plans
to hypothesis. At the very least, it might give you an idea as to where
things currently stand.
I, too, am in the same boat where I will be forced to hide in a corner
of my own home if the mythtv system I implemented in December suddenly
stops getting guide data (and subsequently stops recording) for my kids'
shows. With that said, you are not alone... there are a lot of people
(well, just about everyone on the list who is in the US/Canada) who are
in the same situation.
I personally opened a ticket with DirecTV (not that I expect any real
traction on the issue) to see if, as a subscriber to DirecTV, there is a
way for me to download (via XML or something) the guide data that they
make available to me on their web site.
As far as PSIP data for OTA, I don't think mythtv supports it, but I'm
not really the one to answer that question..
