[mythtv-users] XBOX Frontend

I'll add my 2 cents. I installed Xebian on a mod-chip'd xbox (legal
cromwell bios), and while the front end was sluggish I found it plenty
usable. However, I could not keep myth from crashing X. I tried
everything I could think of, then tried installing other linux distros,
but none would boot (perhaps because of the cromwell bios, I'm not
sure). I finally gave up, flashed the chip, and installed XBMC. As of
yet I'm not running the mythscripts as I am not using my myth server for
TV, so I can't comment on that. As far as XBMC as a generic front end
playing movies/music off a samba share it's ok. Much quicker with a
less hacked-on feel (don't see a linux desktop boot, then myth come up
after). I think it's easier to install as well if you get the right
install cd. On the other hand, Myth looks nicer to me when it's all up
and running and obviously has better integration (it would be nice to
see a movie list with posters and info instead of a file list).

Overall I'd rather be running Myth than XBMC (aside from the fact
myth/linux with cromwell bios is 100% legal and XBMC is grey area), but
I couldn't get it stable.
