[mythtv-users] screen goes black when idle

I just switched my wm to ratpoison, and since doing so, my screen
blanks out after idling.

I have this in a script called by .ratpoisonrc:
 # Disable dynamic power management (screen blanking)
    /usr/X11R6/bin/xset -dpms

and this in the monitor section of xorg.conf:

        Option      "DPMS" "off"


The blanking (or screensaver?) did not come on with the old wm (KDE),
but does now.

Am I missing something obvious?
