Odd. I use the M2NPV-VM board with component out. I can specify 1080i or
720p in my X Config and it fills the screen on my Dell 2407WFP. Then if I
use xrandr to change modes it continue to resize to fill the screen. I
haven't tried with a wide range of TVs though.
