I tore my hair out for two days over that problem! I finally fixed it and

For me, the channel was called "duplicate front," not "PCM capture." The 
symptom sounds identical, though, so it's probably just a naming difference 
between our drivers.

Try muting it in alsamixer by typing "M" when you've highlighted the channel. 
If that doesn't work, I'm not sure what to suggest, unless maybe you can find 
another channel called "duplicate front," in which case I'd say to try it.
