My only suggestion is to run "mythfrontend -v" in a terminal window and 
see if that doesn't give you more information on the "crash". If it 
doesn't help then try the simple stuff like switching out the batteries 
in the remote, checking the permission's on the serial I/O, and 
physically switching the I/O port.
