Hello all,
Well, since MythTV is now working for me (only as mythtv user, but
working anyway), I want to get some output to the TV it's going to be
plugged into until I decide on a projector to buy. I plugged the the
S-Video from my nVidia 5200into the TV (via a scart adaptor) and was
impressed to see that the screen came up as soon as I booted the
machine. The only thing wrong with it was that it was in black and white
(grey scale). I assume that this is because it's set to NTSC rather than
PAL-I by default.
The "NIVIDIA X Server Settings" app allowed me to change many things,
but not the "TV Standard". I searched the net and found a lot of pages
like "just over write your xorg.conf file with this file", but that made
me nervous. I edited it manually with 2 variations. Both using:
Option "TVStandard" "PAL-I"
It worked on time in that the TV was now in colour but it was the only
screen working. It was effectively my desktop and the monitor was
swtched off. Ideally I want both screens on. At worse, a way to switch
between them.
I reverted back to a save of my previous xorg.conf. Now I'm back to my
desktop on my monitor as it used to be. However, I have no output on the
TV. The "NIVIDIA X Server Settings" app has started taking a LONG time
to load, and when it does, enabling the second screen seems to have no
effect. I'll post my current xorg file below. I'd appreciate any pointers.
Cheers
Damian
PS I'm using the 1.0-9746 driver according to the NIVIDIA X Server
Settings app. I think I did that bit correctly?
