Mythtv has no specific IP requirements other than the backend needs to 
be at a static IP address if you have multiple frontend/backend 
machines.  Mythtv is so capable it can have multiple frontend machines 
each displaying a different TV show and multiple backends each recording 
different shows.  All of these machines need to communicate with each 
other, so if all machines have dynamic IP address's there will be 
problems finding the backends since the IP addresses can change.

So if you have multiple Myth machines setup them up behind a router and 
use local static IP addresses, if you only have one machine it does not 
matter since you can use the loopback IP for everything.
