Some channels are worse than others. A few of the more obscure
channels are completely unplayable. The normal channels tend to
glitch every few minutes, but some are noticeably worse than others.

mplayer visibly glitches, but does not ever screech.

They are embedded in the recording (and always coincide with a video
glitch). I have a pre-recorded video right now that screeches like
crazy in MythTV, but does not screech when playing it in mplayer (even
though you can see the video glitch where it does screech in MythTV).

I didn't try this, given that the problem does not occur when using mplayer.

Alas, I've looked into it a bit and haven't found an antenna (yet)
which would seemingly work better than the one I've got. I'm
surrounded by tall buildings and live on the first floor. :(
