I think it may have been a bug in mythbackend somewhere, or a problem 
with my last compile, because I tried my laptop as a frontend and it was 
doing exactly the same thing, and nothing had changed there. I svn up'ed 
the backend, recompiled, and it's working now. The strange thing is that 
absolutely nothing changed on the backend between when it was working 
and then not working.
