I need some more education on this OpenGL XvMC.

If i am reading this right the goal of OpenGL XvMC is to provide a color OSD
while using XvMC?  Which was implemented in myth-vid branch correct?  Is
there anything I can read on what its goals/problems its designed to fix
are?
