And at what temperature?

US gas pumps are compensated for a temperature of 60 degrees F. In most
cases the actual temperature of the fuel is higher than that, resulting
in the customer paying more than the stated price for a standard gallon.

Of course, the fuel dealers claim it would cost far too much to replace
the pumps with temperature-compensated ones.

However, in Canada, where the average fuel temperature is actually below
that 60 degree figure, the fuel vendors insisted on using their own
money to purchase temperature-compensated pumps.

What a surprise.
