Speaking of HP about 10 years ago something like this happened with
electric motors. I mean for a 15A 115V outlet the biggest electric
motor you can have is around 3HP yet power tools (air compressors,
saws, vacuum cleaners ...) all now sell models that are rated 5 or
more "peak" HP.
