Hey all -
I seem to be having a problem getting digital sound working on my remote
frontend. Interestingly, it worked a while ago, but I haven't updated
anything.
The backend is actually a BE/FE; it uses SPDIF out, and works great, with
excellent 5.1 sound with HD broadcasts which use it; DVDs also.
On the BE/FE, in Setup/General, I have the audio output device set to
/dev/adsp and the default passthrough device set to "default", with
"Enable DTS passthrough" on, as well as "aggressive sound card buffering"
and "use internal volume controls" (though they don't do anything).
On the remote FE, I have the same settings...no sound. I have tried every
permutation..the only other available audio device is ithe analog one
(/dev/dsp), but it doesn't work either, with or without DTS passthrough
set. The other possible passthrough device is "ALSA:iec958:{AES0:0x02}"
- doesn't work either.
Other digital and analog sound sources work fine (e.g. Amarok or XMMS,
sound from Web videos) on the remote FE, which means it's a Myth config
issue.
Both machines are running Mandriva (2007.1 on the BE/FE, 2008.0 on the
remote FE), x86_64, with the latest available Myth setups from packages.
Any advice would be appreciated....thanks. Bob
