I've not consciously changed anything, apart from altering the fstab
parameters for the NFS mount and reverting them again, but I've made and
deleted recordings. The figures on the two machines now differ by
exactly 24 blocks in /every/ column.
This does explain (for small values of 'explain') one thing, which is
that I had thought I had already checked out the increased tolerance
version from SVN. Then when it suddenly started working, I convinced
myself that I must have forgotten to restart the backend after
recompiling or something.

Possibly irrelevant, but used+avail is nothing remotely like the alleged
total, coming up about 36G short, and now I come to look at it,
total>used+avail on every single disk on every single Linux system I
have immediate access to. There's definitely something I don't understand!
