I had the same problem, with identical hardware.

There is some mention on the dev list that there is likely a bug in the
is_encoder portion of the code for datadirect.cpp.
I worked around this last night by making a change in the code to
temporarily force is_encoder to always be true, and this worked for me.

But, if you don't want to dive into the code and compile yourself, you
might have to wait for the fix.  Which may be soon, since they know about
it.
