That's a drag.  I had only two kernel difficulties in doing a yum upgrade 
from FC5 to FC6, and I stumbled across solutions for them right away.  
("Turn off" freshrpms.repo by changing the extension in yum.repos.d to avoid 
a version conflict between freshrpms and atrpms, and run "yum -y upgrade 
ivtv" before "yum -y upgrade" to get around a dependency loop that yum 
couldn't resolve.)

That's what I did Sunday morning, and all seems to be well thus far.
