copying the mythconverg folder over is the way to go about it. I do it all
the time. . but what I do is night do a mysql dump of the tables and then I
store those ona different drive and then once i get everything reinstalled
I use webmin to import the .sql file. I had to do this recently. lost my
recordings drive. I had to manually remove the names of the recordings I
had recorded.. but other than that once I was back nup and running it just
hummed along

if you have any questions on mysql drop me a personal email and I will
gladly help.

John,

Thanks for the clue.. but can you expand a little?

I'm no linux newbie - I know enough to be dangerous... VERY
dangerous ;-) However, I seem to remember something from my past
about chroot, but all I can find currently is part of bind..

I'm going to try just copying mythconverg to the new drive.. but I
think I'd rather do things the "right" way - besides, all I really
want is the program data the rest of the settings etc has already
been taken care of ..

btw: I also switched to mythdora running w/ ratpoison - seems to be
functioning VERY nicely.

Thanks,

- Michael
