I have a love/hate opinion of the Internal player. I used it almost
exclusively because the keys & OSD match everything else in Myth, and
now MythVideo supports bookmarking. The frustration comes in when
watching movies, especially DVDs (and I realize that's not exactly
what you're asking). It's not as reliable as a standalone player like
mplayer/vlc/xine, or even a hardware player. For instance you'll be
3/4 of the way through a movie and Myth goes to comm flagging or
something SQL-intensive and Myth just exits (and that goes back to
mysql tuning, having mysql on same disk, etc.) With that being said,
it has gotten a lot better in recent SVN revisions. Just after going
through setting up my remote for vlc, I've switched back to using
Internal exclusively for movies again. We watched several this
weekend with no problems.
