Here's the bad example.  

I order something from company A (a supposedly reputable company), 
They double my order (so it doesn't look like a double charge).  
I get what I really ordered.  

I disputed this with Discover, they reversed the charges.. 
The Company faxed them a copy of the Fedex 'label'.. and the put the charges back.
I dispute it again, but Discover accepts the fact they they delivered a box to Fedex as proof that I got everything.

Case closed, Discover doesn't want to hear it.

Luckily this place is a police supply company, and I knew enough cops to get the word out (turns out that others had similar problems).  Within 6 months they were out of business.

I was out around $50.. but at least I got some revenge.

Now, perhaps this is just Discover..  I don't know.. I have had other problems over the years and they've been fixed by Discover..

Oh well, all these 'stories' are simply anecdotal.  

Everyone has their own idea of what threats and risks are important.  To me PayPal is too big a risk.  It's not for my Wife, but that's her decision.
