I would recommend Gentoo.  It may sound like hard work compiling
everything from source (but it's not really, there are loads of good
howto's on the Gentoo website).  Plus, it does make it easy to upgrade to
bleeding edge of something if it doesn't work in the currently packaged
version for a.n.other distro.
