I agree it sounds more like a mastering issue. I use Mythburn from
mythweb so I can't speak directly to MythArchive.

You might want to try some of the more simplistic methods outlined in:

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Archiving_Recordings_to_DVD

This might tell you if your burner and disks are OK.

(see below, I hadn't read that you're not burning with a Unix machine)

This could be your problem. Good software tends to misbehave when it
detects that it is in the same building as MS crap :-)

But seriously, who knows what Windows and Nero might be doing? I'd get a
burner into the Myth machine ASAP.
