I currently navigate mythmusic mostly by playlists. Usu. all albums by
$ARTIST and making one playlist per Artist.

I agree that there should be some better ways to navigate like a
"browse by tag info" menu at the same level as browse playlists.

under tag info, I'd expect to see something like:

By Artist
 - next menu level contains: By Album, By Title, By Genre, By Year,
and A -> Z for artist
   - under By Genre contains: By Album, By Title, By Year, and A --> Z
for genre for $ARTIST
     - under By Year contains: By Album, By Title, and "A->Z" for year
for $ARTIST,$GENRE
       - Under By Title contas: By Album, and "A-Z" for song titles
for $ARTIST,$GENRE,$YEAR
By Album
By Title
By Year

Hitting "play" at any menu level in the tag tree should queue all of
the tracks listed under that tree.

Maybe hitting record should make a playlist of that database query?
