Doug, I don't think that is your best alternative. EIT may
has a starttime, title, subtitle and description but lacks
all other detail such as the show type ("movie', 'series',
'sports'), programid, credits, attribute flags, pretty much
everything else.
Assuming you have an equivalent NTSC channel (frequency) for
the same station (building) for your zap2it lineup, it may
be better to grab those listings.
Using the example I always use, my local NBC affiliate is KVBC
channel 3. This is also KVBCDT 733 through my cable provider.
mysql> select channum, callsign, xmltvid from channel where callsign='KVBC';
+---------+----------+---------+
| channum | callsign | xmltvid |
+---------+----------+---------+
| 3 | KVBC | 10790 |
| 733 | KVBC | 21661 |
+---------+----------+---------+
I have ch 3 listings through the 19th but 733 listings end
on the 15th. What I will be doing if and when I need to is
to use the Channel Editor the change 733 to 10790 then change
it back to 21661 when there is no longer a problem. These two
IDs should have the same listings except 21661 would have had
the hdtv flag set for broadcasts in HD.
If the HD and NTSC channels have different programming, this
won't work. DD data is full of inaccuracies now no matter
which ID is used. If the analog channel wasn't checked in your
lineup, you would need to check it and update your lineup so
that the data is sent to you. Once the data is sent, the program
table will be populated with listings for the channel with the
matching station ID even if the channel number, video source,
or anything else is not what would have been expected.
