I am not an expert on this, but you should be able to pass
"--cpu=athlon" to the configure script.  Most motherboard bioses don't
properly detect the older Athlon XP-M chips.  I always had the same
thing, but it was never a problem (of course, I didn't try to install
MythTV back then).
