I've tried to do this to - I think that while the windows uses upnp,
the upnp they use isnt very universal. There is a 3rd party peice of
software which supposedly can provide the link, as stated on
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/UPnP, called On2Share, which can
provide a link. (for both media player and the media centre). I
downloaded it and gave it a quick go, without much success.

Interestingly, I had more success with Nero to play recordings from mythtv.
