I am also having a similar problem. MPlayer can play the .mpg files
back flawlessly w/ about a 25% CPU utilization. MythTV stutters the
audio and video. I have tried everything suggested in this thread,
and I have also tried the XvMC hacks on the wiki. Version 0.19 plays
back fine, until an OSD event occurs, and then it hangs.
