It's hardware hack that is installed into a select set of STB
boxes. It presents an unecrypted video stream over USB to a
separate PC. That PC (running Windoze) has drivers for the USB
device as well as an application that remuxes the proprietary
stream into an MPEG-2 TS.

Somebody around here put together some support for using that
Windoze box as a mythtv recording device..search the archives.
