screensavers in xscreensaver actually take a fair bit of CPU and make transcode jobs take much longer. You would do well to configure xscreensaver to only use screen blank or the cpu-friendly screensavers. .. or just leave xscreensaver disabled and turn the TV off when you're not watching it :) -Ross
