Actually "channel flipping" is expired sooner than the 1 day mark.  
Any recording that last less than 2 minutes (I think it's 2 minutes)  
is set to expire immediately since the content is pretty useless  
anyway so all you're expiring is anything you watched longer than  
that. I would definitely recommend a new file system if you're still  
getting pauses with slow deletes turned on. I've been quite happy  
with delete times using JFS and lots of other people report being  
even happier with XFS.
