I am confused on that part. Here is one system with a bad drive in a raid 6
config (see md1):
ldap3 ~ # cat /proc/mdstat
Personalities : [raid1] [raid6]
md0 : active raid1 hdt1[6] hds1[5] hdr1[4] hdq1[3] hdk1[2] hdj1[1] hdi1[0]
256896 blocks [7/7] [UUUUUUU]
md2 : active raid6 hdt4[6] hds4[5] hdr4[4] hdq4[3] hdk4[2] hdj4[1] hdi4[0]
534481920 blocks level 6, 256k chunk, algorithm 2 [7/7] [UUUUUUU]
md1 : active raid6 hdt3[6] hds3[5] hdr3[4] hdq3[3] hdk3[7](F) hdj3[1]
hdi3[0]
48876800 blocks level 6, 256k chunk, algorithm 2 [7/6] [UU_UUUU]
unused devices: <none>
I am not sure why in your output it does not say active and the raid type.
Sorry I can not be more detailed right now, I got to go home from work and I
know I will not be able to get back to you in a few hours but I will try..
