While I am a huge supporter of KnoppMyth, I think your yum problems are 
probably due to FC6 being released, and all the mirrors are swamped with 
requests.

KnoppMyth takes me about 30 minutes to go from bare metal to a working 
front-end, and a back-end is not much more.
