Got it all fixed up! It was the OSS emulation on the ALSA drivers. I
didn't realize that drop down for audio device in the frontend
actually accepted typed-in values. I set it to "ALSA:turtle" (that
being my second soundcard's alias), and the skipping works great with
no delay!
