The bigger question is how to actually control the Motorola 4DTV
receiver. I haven't found a way yet. Motorola isn't giving any
information out on the serial port on the receiver, leaving infrared as
the only means of talking to it. Satellite movement complicates the
channel changing issue, that and there doesn't seem to be a way on the
remotes to directly say, "Go to satellite X, channel Y".

What I've been doing is using Myth's tv guide to program in recordings,
and then duplicating the schedule on the 4DTV receiver. Not the most
elegant solution, but it works.

It's in my long list of things to get done someday to try to figure out
a way to get the computer to talk to the 4DTV receiver. I intend on
getting one of the IR blaster widgets mentioned here and seeing what I
can come up with.
