hmmm... so if you do the above config, you get black and white output
right away.  i got that too when i wasn't using NTSC-M (if i was using
HD480p or HD480i).  i'm not sure where to go from here except to (1)
check the setup with another svideo cable and (2) if possible, plug the
svideo into another svideo capable device and see if the output on that
device is also b/w.
