I think I found the underlying culprit for the nuvexport problems on my
box, and I was wondering if those others who'd had the same issues
(ffmpeg/transode crashes/errors) would check to see if it's common?

   mplayer.

nuvexport uses this with '-identify' to figure out the recording
attributes (aspect, audio, etc.). I discovered this when I realised that
nuvinfo was failing on my main PC (where I run nuvexport) but working on my
mythbox (which is less up to date).

My PVR is running mplayer-4:1.0-52_pre7try3.rhfc5.at at i386 [works], my PC
had the latest ATrpms one, and this mplayer version produces seriously
borked ident. output.

I've backed down my mplayer to mplayer-1.0-54_pre8fc5 and everything
burst into life (for transcode; nuvexport now says I need the latest svn
version of ffmpeg even though I thought I had, but nomatter)

Try running nuvinfo on one of your recordings to see if it's producing
valid output. I think I'm still getting rogue aspect ratios, but nuvexport
can override those.
