[mythtv-users] Advice on transcoding, etc.

List,
I'm looking for some general pointers, advice, and/or "gotchas" regarding transcoding my saved TV shows.
At the moment, Myth dumps the files to a volume which is shared out by Samba. I can watch the recordings in the living room using a softmodded XBOX, or I can play them using windows media player in the office.
What I would like is to transcode the videos to reduce their size; I also want the filenames changed to something like "The Daily Show - 2006-10-03.mpg."
So, I intend to use mythtranscode and ffmpeg to create DivX-format files--these will be stored on the samba share. I plan on letting nuvexport do all the heavy lifting. Videos will be deinterlaced using Bob.
I know I can use mythrename to get the file names down, but I think that's only for links. Not sure if nuvexport will do it.
So, if anyone has got any pointers, etc. I would be glad to hear them before I get started.
Thanks,
Pete
