What I'm trying to say is that recent SVN trunk no longer requires
100x100DPI, so users with non-square pixels can get the benefits of
proper font-sizing, graphics placement, /and/ aspect ratio selection for
software-decoded (XvMC and/or Xv) playback.

You can use any DPI you desire in SVN trunk versions r11174 and higher
as long as you have the proper aspect ratio defined (i.e. define your
DisplaySize in any increment of 16:9 for a 16:9 TV). I'll be writing up
all new descriptions of X configuration for the wiki/FAQ once the next
version is released. (Wondering if I should put something in now that
can later be moved to the FAQ upon release?)
