I was having the same problem.  Then I found this thread - 
http://lists.atrpms.net/pipermail/atrpms-users/2006-October/006088.html  I 
downgraded mplayer and everything started working again.

I think this is a known bug.  Google mplayer floating point exception. 
Don't know if it's been fixed.
