Edit your tvmenu.xml file
(/usr/local/share/mythtv/themes/DVR/tvmenu.xml,
/usr/local/share/mythtv/themes/classic/tvmenu.xml, or
/usr/local/share/mythtv/tvmenu.xml depending on your chosen menu theme)
to use the EXECTV approach to start an external app--like xawtv or
MPlayer--as shown in the commented out EXECTV action.

This is the /only/ way to do "no-buffering" LiveTV with Myth (and, in
fact, it's doing "no-buffering" LiveTV by *not* using Myth). Note,
though, that it /only/ works on a combined frontend/backend machine
(i.e. your capture devices must be local to the frontend that's
EXECTV'ing). When you EXECTV a capture card, Myth is told not to use
that card, so if a scheduled recording is supposed to start while you're
watching LiveTV in xawtv and all your other capture cards are in use,
you'll miss the showing.

Mike
