dvbstream also can use the "magic" pid of 8192 and it will capture all
datastreams on a particular multiplex. Then you can use tools to extract
the independent streams from the captured transport stream. Not sure if
its a hack or a neat inclusion in one of the video API's that isn't fully
documented. So there is plenty of room for those who are interested in
such a feature to do leg work for "potential" developers.

Another hint to make implementing easier:
VDR already uses this feature. Maybe a little copy&paste of VDR code
reduces work (e.g. using MPEG remuxer classes of VDR).
Is MythTV-backend written in C or C++?
