You should see a difference between no activity (timeout) and bad  
information (unrecognized string returned). I suspect it will work  
since the STB probably doesn't care which connection is being used  
and will treat commands from either of them the same. Your mythtv box  
will have no idea (or care) what kind of connector is on the other  
end as long as the expected response comes back.
