I'm running into a similar issue with the same sound device in my
upgrade to FC6(alsa-lib-1.0.13) and myth .20-140, that has me scratchin'
my head.

I have the same sound device SIS7012 on my Shuttle. I'm using SPDIF out
to my Denon receiver, so I want all audio to go thru the SPDIF.

I do not have a customized .asoundrc and I've configured myth:

Audio output device: ALSA:iec958
Passthrough output device: ALSA:iec958
Enable AC3 to SPDIF passthrough: checked
Enable DTS to SPDIF passthrough: checked
Aggressive Sound card Buffering: unchecked
Use internal volume controls: unchecked

With this I'm able to get AC3 into the Denon with the correct sound when
the source has AC3( LiveTV from HD(thru Firewire), MythDVD, MythVideo
when files are AC3.

I'm able to get sound in MythVideo when the AVI files are encoded with
MP3 at 48000 Hz.

The problem: I'm not able to get any sound at all when the source is at
44100 Hz. No sound from MythVideo when AVI files are MP3 encoded at
41000 Hz. No sound from MythMusic at all!

It appears the issue is the 41000 Hz content going into the
SPDIF...perhaps it needs to be converted to 48000 on the fly....but I
don't know what I need to do to configure that?

Thanks in advance,
Ed
