[mythtv-users] ALSA/surround and mythtv

Hi,
I'm running myth 0.20-0.4, with ALSA 1.0.11-5 on a sis7012? (ac97). I
can use "plug:surround51" as a device in xine and 5.1 works fine. So I
think ALSA is okay.

In mythtv, I enter my device as "ALSA:plug:surround51:0" and mixer as
"default", as I read on a website and I get nothing! "ALSA:default"
works, but only as a stereo output (no 5.1, no surround).

I'm not sure, but I don't think I need an .asoundrc file??? If so, what
would I need? I have tried several examples I found online but nothing
works.

I want to be able to use the integrated MythDVD player and also have
matrix stereo (dolby surround) from analog TV programs to work
correctly. I'm capturing with a Hauppauge PVR-150 and PVR-250.

Can I do this using the analog jacks in my sound card? I have Logitech
Z-5300 5.1 speaker system. I don't want to have to buy another digital
decoder.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.
