some other things to try
1. do you have the right firmware?
2. a complete shutdown /power off and try again
3. try a different pci slot
4. try the card under windoze, it might be DoA
I've two Dvico [dual] cards running under FC4, and never needed to use
the external tools and have found my cards scanned really well from
within mythtv.
