[mythtv-users] /dev files keep getting permissions reset (FC3)

(Fedora Core 3, following Jarod's guide quite a while ago)

Something keeps changing/resetting the permissions on the useful /dev/ 
files - e.g. /dev/video0, /dev/video16, /dev/mixer, /dev/snd/* etc.

I put some lines into /etc/rc.local to give them group+global 
read/write, which does the trick, but if the machine is up too long 
without me using it then 'something' seems to be resetting the permissions.

What might this be?

How can I find out what is doing it?
