[mythtv-users] getting back into myth "Encoder mailbox not found"

That did it . I removed the lines from modprobe.conf and it worked.
Everything is set up and working but I can see channels to 13 but 14 on up
are static and snow no sound and no picture at all. I looked around but
couldn't even find a place to start. I have Adelphia cable in West Palm
beach FL and have hooked it up to a standard tv and picture is fine to
channel 99.

Any advice would be great,

Thanks

Tom J

Sorry I wasn't specific enough below.I am currently working on a FC4 and
there is no /dev/video0 and the error I get is listed below.. Sorry guys

The first error messages in your log are:

May 26 20:08:21 linux kernel: ivtv0 warning: Encoder mailbox not found
May 26 20:08:21 linux kernel: ivtv0 warning: invalid api mailbox

I have not seen these before, but I would guess that it could be caused by a
wrong detection of the card. Do you do any overrides of anything? (how does
your modprobe.conf look like?) Note that Jarod Wilsons guide carry a lot of
legacy things, that are no longer needed. I have a PVR-250 which needed a
couple of special lines in modules.conf when I was using FC1. I recently
reinstalled with FC4 and the latest ivtv drivers, and I did not have to do
any special adjustments to modprobe.conf

Re sound: Try turning the sound system off in the control panel

Re Lirc: I did not see any lirc lines in your log. Have you installed lirc
and lirc-kmdl and is lirc running?

Guys,

I am trying to get myth running again (had an old via problem before )

My pvr 250 works cause I tried to get it running on 64 bit but couldn't get
sound working nor lirc but I did get video.

Any idea what is wrong here .btw I am following Jarod Wilson's guide. FC4
on asus board

Thanks
