(Now that I read this, I realise what I wrote above is not quite right,
the 'adjust' filter is only automatically applied with the bt8x8
drivers, which I am using, not DVB in general)
Basically, you can find the filter settings in your playback settings.
The filters are for both HD and SD. Various filters do various things.
There are filters to clean up a noisy or weak signal (which I was using,
but don't need now that I have an antenna amplifier), deinterlace etc.
Some of these can use a lot of CPU.
I don't know whether the increase in CPU usage for HD from 0.18 to 0.19
is due to changes in the filters or something else, but certainly I
found removing some filters brought the CPU consumption back to
reasonable levels for me.
